Creating brighter futures not only for students but for the workforce that keeps the University well-oiled and running, the DHVSU Administrative Services Office held a seminar on pre-retirement on September 30, 2019 at the University Hostel.

The half-day seminar aims to provide employees, especially those in the pre-retirement stage, information to assist them in making sound decisions in preparation for retirement.

After a warm welcome from Prof. Anna C. Dayrit, Chief Administrative Officer, and an inspiring message from Engr. Rohel S. Serrano, Executive Vice President, Ms. Michelle E. Reyes, Staff Officer of the Government Service Insurance System** (GSIS) took the podium to talk about relevant topics concerning an employee’s retirement.

During the seminar proper, Ms. Reyes discussed about planning for retirement and the myths surrounding it, and gave an overview about investments. She also presented the benefits and privileges that the GSIS provides, as well as an employee’s need for life insurance and the Philippines’ retirement laws and options. Filing and claiming various benefits such as disability, separation and survivorship benefits were also reviewed.

Furthermore, after delving into a retiree’s loan privileges, Ms. Reyes gave the attendees an overview of the latest GSIS updates. This was followed by a brief closing remarks by Engr. Reden M. Hernandez, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Aside from the target participants, in attendance during the seminar were members of the DHVSU Administrative Council, Directors of different offices, and staff of the Administrative Services Office.
