A civil engineering (CE) alumnus of Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) from batch 2008, Dr. Rodolfo P. Mendoza Jr., went back to his alma mater to lead the exploratory talk on potential partnerships and collaborations to the CE department held at College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) Audio Visual Room on November 27, 2024.
Dr. Mendoza, a faculty of De La Salle University and a member of Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines, was accompanied by Dr. Naveed Anwar, an adjunct professor at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.
The exploratory talk focused on potential faculty visitations, research collaborations, and student-exchange programs related to software development.
Dr. Mendoza and Dr. Anwar also shared the Extended 3D Analysis of Building Systems (ETABS) software, an engineering tool used for structural analysis and design, which is highly beneficial for CE students and faculty.
“As you use the software and share your experiences on the website to gather data for other users, that becomes the collaboration we were hoping for,” Dr. Anwar said.
Also present during the event were Engr. Reden Hernandez, Vice President for Academic Affairs, concurrent OIC-Executive Vice President and OIC-Vice President for Administration and Finance; Engr. Jun Flores, CEA Dean; Engr. Rowel Waje, OIC-Director of the Office of Physical Plant and Facilities and concurrent Director of the DHVSU Lubao Campus; Dr. Mildred Crisostomo, Director of the Office for International Partnerships and Programs; and Engr. Inla Diana Salonga, Manager of Technical Advisory Services and Technology Utilization and CE Chairperson of the DHVSU Bacolor Campus.
“I would like to take this moment to acknowledge the accomplishments you have achieved, Dr. Mendoza Jr., for this memorable impact on your alma mater and for never forgetting your humble beginnings at this very university,” Engr. Hernandez said in his welcome remarks.
“And we hope that this [activity] will lead to more expanded partnerships and collaborations with you [Dr. Mendoza and Dr. Anwar],” Engr. Hernandez stated.
