The Health Services Unit of the Office of Student Services is composed of the Dental Clinic and Medical Clinic.
The Health Services Unit offers the following health services to students, faculty members and staff of the University:
1. Free consultation;
2. Free physical and medical examinations;
3. Free dental examination and extraction;
4. Free medicine in accordance with the resource capability of the University;
5. Free issuance of medical certificates;
6. All enrolled students shall undergo physical and medical examinations to determine their physical fitness and to detect possible corrections.
Dental Services
1. Patient Treatment
2. Oral hygiene instructions
3. Prescribes & dispenses medicines to control pain and hemorrhages.
4. Treat and restores decayed tooth (as temporary filling only).
5. Tooth extraction (with parent & guardian consent).
6. Health Education and Documentation Support
7. Performs other duties in the clinic, as may be assigned by the Director of Student Services
Medical Services
Appraisal Aspects Includes:
- Health examination of the first year students & consultation of old students
- Treatment and dispensing of medicines.
- Prescribing follow-up medicine & issuance-up medical certificate.
- Preventive Aspects Includes:
- Control of communicable diseases through voluntary vaccination. Illnesses like- Chickenpox, Influenza, Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid and MMR vaccine.:
- First aid treatment of minor injuries and mild illness which can be treated in the clinic e.g. - sprain, cough, colds, muscle pain, diarrhea, sore eyes, epigastric pain, hyperacidity and dysmenorrhea.
- Emergency treatment in case of serious illness and injuries, patients are transported to nearby hospital. After medical evaluation has been done at the clinic.
- Water supply examination and treatment are done by Department of Health.
Remedial Aspects
- Referral of patient to other hospitals for further evaluation and management
- Follow-up of referred emergency patient at the hospital.
- Seminars are conducted for students relevant to health awareness
- Physical examination & issuance of medical certificate, On the Job Training, Sports Activities, out bound student’s activities.
