From research to realization!
Student researchers from the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) of Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U) bagged the Outstanding Student Creative Research for College (SIBOL) Award, earning a spot in the national level of the competition during the recently concluded Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) 2025 – North Luzon Cluster held at the Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on October 14 to 15, 2025.
CITizen researchers Rodge Aeon A. Jimena and Ervin T. Garung, both from the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology major in Automotive Technology program, together with their coaches Arnel T. Gutierrez and Dominic F. Pineda, received the recognition for their research titled “Development, Evaluation, and Testing of Recyclable Plastic Materials.”
Alongside the development team of the research and machine entry were Renzo Bacani, Jefferson Bellexa, Michael Dominique Caling, Wilson Macabuhay, Patrick Alfonso Quinto, John Patrick Reyes, and Tristan Roman.
The team will represent the Northern Luzon Cluster in the National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) 2026, where they will compete against other regional champions.
Organized by the Department of Science and Technology – Technology Application and Promotion Institute, the two-day event brought together Northern Luzon’s brightest inventors, researchers, and student innovators to showcase groundbreaking projects and technologies designed to address real-world challenges.
Also present as representatives of Pampanga State U during the event were CIT Officer-in-Charge Dean Rozen G. Alfonso and Dr. Jhon Paulo V. Oflaria, Senior Education Program Specialist from the Research Management Office.
