The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Pampanga conducted a Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) Seminar for the graduating students of Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), with the theme “Future-Ready Honorians: Shaping Careers for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” held at the Dr. Ernesto T. Nicdao Sports Center on April 28, 2025.
The discussion aimed to equip students with essential knowledge about labor rights, workplace readiness, and career sustainability, helping them develop the skills and information needed as they transition into the workforce.
“Yung next step na nila is graduation and we are preparing them for what's next after graduation,” said Office of Career Service (OCS) Head Cristal Rio Manuel in an interview.
Manuel also added that the OCS is responsible for offering pre-employment seminars before students begin their professional careers.
Attended by graduating students who will soon embark on their professional journeys, the seminar proves valuable to their future endeavors, raising awareness about minimum wage, office hours, and Employees' Compensation Commission benefits for work-related issues.
“This seminar will help us to become aware sa mga wages and benefits in both public and private companies, especially after graduation may iba po na maghahanap na ng work,” said Jaimelin L. Sigua, a fourth-year student from the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (BSED) program.
The event will be conducted from April 28 to 30 and May 2, 2025, providing Academic Year 2024–2025 graduating students the opportunity to participate and gain essential knowledge for their future careers.
