Dedicated to promoting an energy-conscious culture beyond mere legal compliance with Republic Act (RA) 11285, also known as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Unit (EECU) of the Administrative Services Office (AdminSO) at Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) conducted its Energy Conservation Implementers Virtual Orientation on November 19, 2024, via Zoom.
Emphasizing the Sustainable and Energy Efficient DHVSU (SEED) campaign, the orientation aimed to provide an overview of RA 11285 and the Government Energy Management Program, which seeks to reduce electricity and petroleum consumption in public institutions.
“If the DHVSU community is to engage in energy-efficient and conservation practices, it should go beyond fulfilling legal requirements," AdminSO Director and EEC Officer Anna Dayrit stated.
Director Dayrit further emphasized that the goal should be to adopt conscious and practical efforts toward sustainable practices, not only for the benefit of the present but also for future generations.
Engr. Ralph Laurence D. Parungao, the guest speaker for the event, delivered an informative session on the practicality and sustainability of installing photovoltaic (PV) solar systems in residential homes.
His presentation was designed to equip ECIs with practical and sustainable knowledge applicable to their own households.
Also present during the event were Engr. Freneil R. Pampo, EECU head; Ar. Mair S. De Lara, Director of the Property Supply and Management Office; EECU staff; and the EEC coordinators.
