Recognizing the importance of gender research methodologies and validation in shaping gender policies, Don Honorio Ventura State University’s (DHVSU) Research Management Office (RMO) hosted the 7th Gender and Development (GAD) Research Webinar on March 20, 2025, via Zoom.
"The policies that we design and choose to enact will serve as our stronghold in achieving a fair and just society that looks beyond gender, skin color, age, and economic status. And by doing this, we continue constructing a better society,” said Dr. Ranie B. Canlas, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension, in his welcome message.
Organized by the RMO, led by Dr. Robin Dimla, the webinar aims to generate impactful research on gender and development to influence decision-making, policy formulation, stakeholder engagement, and strategic implementation.
The featured speaker, Prof. Roda L. Tajon, Director of the Office of Student Affairs at the University of the Philippines Open University, presented the topic ‘Research and Policy Development on Gender.’
She discussed feminist research, emphasizing that it is not limited to women but also extends to men, particularly those in marginalized groups.
Tajon also addressed gender-responsive policies, which consider the needs and interests of both women and men while addressing the specific needs of various subgroups within the broader gender framework.
On the other hand, Dr. Dolores T. Quiambao, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services and Director of the Gender and Development Focal Point System, thanked the RMO team for their impactful work in strengthening the university’s GAD Agenda. She emphasized the importance of supporting women by providing them with space, as they are among the vulnerable sectors of society.
