“To pass or not to pass? That is the question.”
This was how Dr. Maricon Viduya, the overall coordinator from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP) for the Level 1 and Preliminary Survey Visit (PSV) programs for accreditation, began delivering her team’s general impressions during the closing program of the online survey visit to Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) from December 2 to 6, 2024.
On behalf of the AACCUP team, Dr. Viduya commended the robustness of DHVSU’s systemsand inputs that strengthen its programs, highlighting striking features such as the vision and mission's alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and Vision 2040.
She also lauded the comprehensive master development roadmap, which outlines a progressive transformation from a teaching university in 2022 to a research facility by 2028, an entrepreneurial university by 2034, and a sustainable university by 2040, indicating a long-term, structured vision for the institution.
“I have been serving as an overall coordinator and usually take part in accrediting and handling Area 1, but it is only in DHVSU that I have seen such a master development plan,” Dr. Viduya said.
Dr. Viduya also expressed how DHVSU provides opportunities to enhance students’ academic experiences through various services. She also highlighted the University’s strengths, including qualified administrative officers; its certificates of program compliance; active faculty involvement in research and extension activities; and well-equipped facilities and support services that effectively address student needs.
“DHVSU has demonstrated strengths, from enthusiastic task force members and a robust system to its impressive physical environment. These elements collectively contribute to excellence by addressing areas identified for improvement, particularly in document management and online data presentation,” she concluded.
Indeed, the aforementioned impressions are a testimony to the University’s strong quality leadership, led by University President Dr. Enrique G. Baking, along with Engr. Reden M. Hernandez, OIC-Executive Vice President; Dr. Ranie B. Canlas, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension; and Dr. Dolores T. Quiambao, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services.
The accreditation survey was coordinated by the Quality Management Systems Office, headed by its Director, Dr. Emmanuel Parreño, along with the administration of DHVSU Mexico Campus, led by Dir. Vicky Vital; the College of Arts and Sciences, headed by Dean Adonis David; the College of Computing Studies, led by Dean Joel Canlas; and the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, led by Dean Kathleen Joyce Coronel.
