Displaying Honorian pride in purple, Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) officially commenced the National Women’s Month 2025 celebration with this year’s theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” at the Dr. Ernesto T. Nicdao Sports Center on March 4, 2025.

The event, spearheaded by the University Student Council (USC) in cooperation with the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Office and led by Dr. Dolores T. Quiambao, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services and Director for the GFPS, began with a parade at the DHVSU grounds, joined by GAD Coordinators, college representatives with their participating students, and the university’s faculty and staff.

Hon. Missy Ruela C. Cortez, USC President, acknowledged the significant role of mothers in shaping society and celebrated the diversity of women while advocating for true equality.

“Hindi hadlang ang kasarian upang maging leader, upang magkaroon ng boses at upang maging inspirasyon sa iba,” Cortez said in her message.

Adding to this, Erin Margaret Peña, Governor of the College of Engineering and Architecture, emphasized that women can also earn a place in society, highlighting the importance of gender equality, the need for inclusivity, and the call for continued progress in empowering women.

“It is not always easy, but it is evident that by earning our place in this world, women can be on top as we continue to set our minds on everything and anything we want to achieve,” Peña remarked, stating the purpose of the month-long celebration.

The presentation of Mr. and Ms. DHVSU, along with Mx. DHVSU, also took place during the opening program.

Simultaneously, various offices, departments, and organizations will conduct activities aligned with GAD advocacies.
