To celebrate the 137th birth anniversary of the University’s namesake, Don Honorio Ventura y Tizon (July 30, 1887 - September 3, 1940), the Heritage Museum of Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) held a commemorative program on July 30, 2024.
The event was held to recount the life and legacy of Don Honorio Ventura, a former governor and philanthropist, and the namesake of DHVSU.
Mr. Rowell Cruz, Assistant Director of the Office of Culture and the Arts, warmly welcomed guests, including representatives from the College of Education and various offices. This was followed by the introduction of Mr. Ryan Santiano, the newly designated curator of the DHVSU Heritage Museum.
The Guintung Siuala Singers performed the "Himno ning Kapampangan," creating a solemn and reflective atmosphere while a gesture of respect through the offering of flowers was done by University Registrar, Dr. Dolores Mallari, and DHVSU Sto. Tomas Campus Director, Dr. Jovita Rivera, who offered a spray of flowers to honor Don Honorio Ventura.
The commemoration emphasized the remembrance of Don Honorio Ventura's life of service to others and his advocacy for good governance, which is one of the university's core values.
