In a week of celebrating the fruits of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) to the people, Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) made its presence at the opening ceremonies of the 2023 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week in Central Luzon at Botolan, Zambales on October 18.
Delegates from DHVSU exhibited at the event the Disaster-Used Converted Ketch (DUCK) innovation, a visionary project resulting from a collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The DUCK represents the transformation of the 1978 model Toyota Land Cruiser BJ 60 series into an amphibious vehicle designed to reinforce and back up relief and response efforts in Pampanga province.
Leading the DHVSU participants was Dr. Ranie Canlas, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension; Dean Jun Flores of the College of Engineering and Architecture, along with Engr. Alma Tancuangco, the Center Manager of the Science, Technology, and Engineering Research Center under the Research Management Office.
The DUCK team also comprised dedicated faculty-researchers from the College of Engineering and Architecture, College of Computing Studies, and College of Industrial Technology, along with members from the Senior High School, Porac Campus, and Sto. Tomas Campus.
Under the theme "Siyensya, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan," this annual regional STI week of celebration, running from October 18 to 20, will feature an insightful exhibition of DOST programs and services, especially the outputs from research and development initiatives that play a significant role in translating our development aspirations into reality.
