DHVSU promotes disaster resilience with BICS training

In observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month and in line with the theme "BIDANG Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-being towards Disaster Resilience," the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) – University Occupational Safety and Health Office (UOSHO) conducted the Basic Incident Command System (BICS) Training at the University Hostel's Multi- Purpose Function Hall from July 5 to 7, 2023.

The training was organized by the Occupational Safety and Health Office, led by Director Rhiziel P. Manalese, in collaboration with the Planning Office, headed by Director Eddiebal P. Layco, and the Administrative Services Office, headed by Director Anna C. Dayrit.

It aimed to equip university action officers from various divisions, departments, and campuses with the knowledge and skills to effectively respond to emergencies and manage disaster incidents by explaining the background and overview of ICS, describing the ICS organization and facilities, and understanding the principles of management.

The training emphasized the use of ICS in crafting the DHVSU-Incident Action Plan, conducting operation period briefings, and managing planned events and major incidents.

Ms. Estella Marie S. Mallari, Mr. Reymond Allan O. Santos, Mr. Francis G. Pangilinan, Mr. Gerardo A. Calimoso, and Mr. Resty Astrero from the Office of Civil Defense Region III served as guest speakers and performers during the training. Their expertise and insights added value to the learning experience of the 34 participants who successfully completed the course.
