“Every drop counts, every stream matters.”
This tagline serves as the inspiration behind Don Honorio Ventura State University’s (DHVSU) Hydraulic Ram (Hydram) Pumps project, implemented through its Extension Services Office (ESO), which was successfully turned over to the residents of Brgy. Mawacat, Floridablanca, Pampanga, in a ceremony held at La Blanca Events Place, Floridablanca, Pampanga, on February 27, 2025.
The DHVSU Hydram Project, launched in 2022 under the Accessible, Quality, and Unified Approach (AQUA) to Water Access through Innovative Solutions Program, aims to provide the Aeta community with a clean and sustainable water supply.
“Ito po ay isa sa adbokasiya ng aming pangulo na si Dr. Enrique Baking na pangunahan ang mandato ng unibersidad especially sa pagsusulong sa mga research na magiging kapakipakinabang sa mga komunidad ng Pampanga,” Engr. Rhoderick Favorito, ESO Director, said in an interview with CLTV36.
This initiative is in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program and the Local Government Unit of Floridablanca, Pampanga.
In another interview with CLTV36, Marilou Bacani, captain of Barangay Mawacat, expressed her gratitude for how the project will help their community, specifically in addressing the challenges they encounter just to get water.
“Mumukyat que pamu pu qing bundok, mukyat kami dadala mila pu ring container pupusanan mi. Misan nga pu reng kalupa ming kakababaihan a kulut atin lang bibitbitan anak mumusan la pang gallon,” Bacani stated. (“We climb the mountain by carrying heavy containers and lifting them with effort. Sometimes, even the women carry their children while balancing gallons of water.”)
The Hydram Project also immersed the locals who will utilize the facility, allowing them to become fully aware of how their community can benefit from the project.
Along with Engr. Favorito, DHVSU was represented by Engr. Inla Diana Salonga, assistant project leader of the Hydram Project and water engineer; Engr. Jerwin Deysolong, project leader; as well as the ESO center managers and staff.
