Under the bright lights of the Dr. Ernesto T. Nicdao Sports Complex, the Hiraya Theater Production stirred a wave of emotions among Honorian audiences at Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) on May 23, 2025, with their three-show stage play, Sina-Dasal.
The production delivered emotional scenes and offered a meaningful look into faith, personal growth, and the importance of family.
The play embodied real-life hardships that resonated with the audience, particularly through the character of Aaron, the youngest among the three siblings, who aspired to work abroad for his family but was diagnosed with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and later discovered he was the adopted child of Sarah, with Diwata (David) revealed as his biological father.
“Itong Sina-Dasal ay para na rin sa mga henerasyon ng hinaharap dahil lahat tayo ay dadaan sa pinakamahirap at pinakamadilim na yugto ng ating buhay, ang tanong ay kung paano natin makakayang mapalakas ang pakiramdam natin at maka hulagpos sa pagsubok an yon,” said Rommel "Chaps" Manansala, Sina-Dasal director, in an interview.
In a separate interview, Ian W. Sumera, a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education student, shared his thoughts on the powerful delivery of the play’s scenes.
“Ako po, meron po akong ibang paniniwala, pero dahil sa panonood po nito, nahubog po and loob ko at nalaman pa po ang mga dapat nating pahalagahan kahit may mga problema po tayo, especially saming mga students," Sumera expressed.
The staging of Sina-Dasal seeks to inspire its audiences to reflect on faith, and to encourage them to find strength and hope even in the face of life’s most difficult challenges.
