The Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) claimed a total of 15 medals—3 gold, 5 silver, and 7 bronze — at the State Universities and Colleges Faculty Association of Region III (SCUFAR-III) Sports and Cultural Festival, hosted by Pampanga State Agricultural University in Magalang, Pampanga, from August 19-22, 2024.
The Honorian delegates competed in various games and categories such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, athletic events, board games, traditional Filipino games, singing, dancing, and many others.
DHVSU was recognized as a three-peat champion this year in the Men’s Basketball Ages 44 and below category, as they once again claimed the championship title.
“Thank you sa mga sumuporta [sa amin] at nandito kami nanalo kami ng three-peat [champion],” proudly exclaimed Joseph Soriano, coach of the men's basketball team.
In addition, the Honorians also successfully brought home the gold medal in the Men's 3x3 Basketball category for ages 50 and above, while another gold medal was awarded to Lloyd Feliciano in the vocal solo singing category.
“Surprising kasi walang preparation ito, biglang hugot lang. Pero we are prepared dito sa game, lalo na kami dahil nage-ensayo kami. Sana magtuloy-tuloy, and next year lalong maging malakas pa rin ‘yung team namin,” said Engr. Marvin Baesa, one of the members of the Men's 3x3 Basketball category for ages 50 and above.
The event aims to promote physical health and strengthen the camaraderie among faculty and non- academic staff of SUCs in Central Luzon.
