In a move to enhance their academic resources and their plans to establish their own museum, Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) from Batac City, Ilocos Norte, embarked on a benchmarking activity to Don Honorio Ventura State University's University Learning and Resource Center (ULRC) and Heritage Museum on August 16.
The purpose of MMSU’s visit was to seek the efficiency of its own library system by observing best practices and creating strong linkages with State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), national libraries, special libraries, and museums. DHVSU was included as one of their partner institutions.
During the visit, representatives from MMSU engaged in sharing and cooperatively using publications and reference materials with their counterparts from DHVSU. The participants also toured around DHVSU's main library and law library.
One of the highlights of the activity was the tour of the DHVSU Heritage Museum, where MMSU's delegates had the opportunity to explore the museum's facilities, delve into the school's history, share narratives, examine the collection, appreciate the museum's architectural features, and gain insights into how DHVSU successfully maintains its relics and artifacts. This experience laid a foundation for MMSU's own goal of establishing a museum.
The benchmarking activity was facilitated by DHVSU ULRC's Director, Suzette B. Macaspac, and the DHVSU Heritage Museum tour was made possible by Theo Niño Angelo Ortiz, a representative from the Office of Culture and Arts.
