To ensure adequate and effective management of records and archives, Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U), in partnership with the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP), conducted a seminar-workshop on Basic Records and Archives Management (BRAM) at the University Hostel on September 25, 2025.
The activity was participated in by deans, directors, and staff from Pampanga State U’s main and satellite campuses.
It aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills in organizing, handling, and securing university records for more efficient office operations.
NAP resource speakers led the sessions, with Exhia R. Dondonilla, Senior Records Management Analyst, opening the discussion on Republic Act 9470 and the basics of records creation and control.
“Pag meron tayong offense, meron tayong penalties. Through RA 9470, na-strengthen nang mapangalagaan talaga ang mga records dahil sa mga penalties na ito,” Dondonilla explained.
Meanwhile, the succeeding sessions were handled by Terence Michael A. Tablizo, Supervising Records Management Analyst, and Michelle Ann Rose R. Zamora, Archivist II, who discussed records disposition administration, records center and archives administration, and records security through lectures and workshops.
Spearheaded by the Records and Management Unit (RMU), the activity targets to streamline office processes and reinforce effective records management policies.
“Hopefully we will always be guided sa mga transactions na non documented, be it digitize, hard copy or soft copy, para yung decision making naten at mga adhikain ay mapadali,” said Dr. Philip Rafael Malate, RMU head.. importance of preserving and managing records with utmost care and responsibility as part of the University’s commitment to excellence.
“Sa bawat dokumento, buhay ang kasaysayan. This reminds us that in every document, history lives—a powerful call for us to manage and preserve records with the highest sense of care and responsibility,” said Dayrit.
