Stepping towards its commitment to academic excellence, social relevance, and global competitiveness, Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U) undergoes institutional accreditation (IA) through the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) on August 26 to 28, 2025.
“To be able to fulfill your vision of really shaping minds, advancing technologies, and creating brighter futures, the first step is to subject yourself to institutional accreditation,” said Dr. Milabel Ho, Executive Director of AACCUP and Team Coordinator for Pampanga State U’s IA.
She further emphasized, “What would it do to universities and colleges if they start being recognized outside of their country in world rankings but are not recognized in our own home?”
Joining Dr. Ho in the team of accreditors are Dr. Anthony M. Penaso of Bohol Island State University, Dr. Ronald Allan S. Mabunga of Philippine Normal University, Dr. Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente of the University of Southern Mindanao, Dr. Noralyn M. Natura of Nueva Vizcaya State University, and Engr. Nestor C. Competente of Rizal Technological University.
The University Administrative Council, led by University President Dr. Enrique G. Baking, formally welcomed the AACCUP accreditors during a welcome ceremony held on August 26 at the University Hostel.
“This accreditation process serves as an opportunity for self-evaluation, continuous improvement, and strategic alignment with regional and international standards,” Dr. Baking stated in his message of purpose.
He further emphasized that the University’s pursuit of accreditation goes beyond mere validation of achievements; rather, it stands as a declaration of its enduring commitment to nation-building and regional solidarity.
“Through this accreditation journey, the University does not only seek recognition—it seeks to deepen its role as an educational catalyst for change in the ASEAN region, harnessing the power of education to build a more resilient, equitable, and integrated future for all,” he concluded.
AACCUP will evaluate the University across eight key areas: governance and management; teaching, learning, and evaluation; faculty and staff; research; extension, consultancy, and linkages; student support services; library; infrastructure and learning resources; and quality assurance and culture.
