To facilitate mutual understanding and strengthen collaborations in higher education, Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) President Dr. Enrique G. Baking participated in the first State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) Executive Forum, hosted by Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) in Dipolog City from June 8 to 11, 2025.
Spearheaded by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III, the forum convened 28 SUC presidents, executive assistants, and university officials from across the country.
With the theme “28 Strong Leaders Committed to One Vision, One Goal: Forging a Unified Vision for Philippine Higher Education,” the forum featured in-depth sessions on SUC board protocols, updated legal and procedural requirements, CHED policies and guidelines, as well as emerging challenges in the higher education landscape.
The event, jointly sponsored by Jose Rizal Memorial State University and Cotabato State University, aimed to enhance key SUC officers’ understanding of their roles and responsibilities while providing valuable insights into legal matters relevant to state universities and colleges.
Joining Dr. Enrique G. Baking in representing DHVSU were Dr. Ranie B. Canlas, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension; Dr. Eddiebal P. Layco, Director of the Planning and Development Office (PDO); Engr. Ralph Laurence D. Parungao, Project Development Officer of the Office of Physical Plant and Facilities; and Gabriel Lumanog of the PDO.
