Two researchers from Don Honorio Ventura State University’s (DHVSU) Gender Focal Point System (GFPS), led by Director and DHVSU Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Dolores T. Quiambao, were awarded Best Research Presenters at the Philippine Association of Gender and Development Advocators in Education and Industries, Inc. (PAGDAEII)’s 10th Annual Gender and Development (GAD) Conference, held in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, from October 9 to 11, 2024
The awardees are Dr. Quiambao, for her paper titled “Implementation of Gender and Development Program in a State University Towards a Proposed Orangeprint,” co-authored with Ms. Kathrina Gloria, and Mr. Jaymark Yambao, a member of the GFPS Technical Staff, for his paper titled “A Digital Evaluation Platform for Gender and Development Budget Attribution.”
The DHVSU-GFPS team participated in the summit with a total of six completed research papers.
Among the nearly 300 delegates from 61 colleges and universities across the Philippines, representing our university alongside Dr. Quiambao and Mr. Yambao, are the Assistant GAD Focal Persons Mr. Ivan G. Liwanag and Ms. Andronica Jean Ambag, Mr. Christopher S. Sicat from the GFPS Technical Staff, and members of the Technical Working Group: Ms. Jennifer Baluyut, Dr. Christine Cayanan, Dr. Marie Eugenie Otanes, Ms. Hilene Hernandez, and Mr. Gabriel Zachary Reyes.
With the theme “Capability Enhancement on GAD Planning and Budgeting and Research Summit for a Responsive and Genuine Institutional Transformation,” the conference aimed to upskill advocates in education and industries on GAD planning and budgeting for responsive and genuine transformation, present GAD research to enhance governance, instruction, and partnerships; and establish networks to strengthen partnerships for gender- responsive and sustainable institutions.
The DHVSU-GFPS endeavor was made possible through the unwavering support of the entire DHVSU community under the exceptional leadership of University President Dr. Enrique G. Baking, demonstrating DHVSU’s strong commitment to gender equality and its continued advocacy for GAD initiatives.
