Bridging international partnerships focusing on research collaboration and potential faculty and student exchange, delegates from Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) had an exploratory visit to Nagoya University in Nagoya, Japan, from May 13 to 16, 2025.
The primary goal of the visit is to benchmark and learn from the professors and researchers at Nagoya University’s Disaster Mitigation Research Center, particularly in the areas of research, extension, and training activities.
DHVSU targets to establish a counterpart research center modeled after Nagoya University’s facility, which will address pressing challenges in risk management and disaster mitigation.
The team also explored potential opportunities for faculty exchange and scholarships for graduate programs in Civil Engineering.
Representing DHVSU were Engr. Reden Hernandez, Executive Vice President; Dr. Ranie Canlas, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension; and Dr. Rodolfo Mendoza, a DHVSU Civil Engineering alumnus who also graduated from Nagoya University.
