Reaffirming its commitment to excellence, leadership, and service, the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Unit successfully passed the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) with an overall rating of 96.61% for Academic Year 2024 – 2025, held at the DHVSU Extension Lot on May 14, 2025.
The rating was garnered based on various criteria, including administrative inspection, arrival honors, ceremonial parade, inspection in ranks, close order drill, map reading, weapons handling, semaphore signaling, knot tying, raid or ambush simulation, first aid and basic life support, and a comprehensive examination.
Prior to the inspection, the Don Honorio Ventura State University ROTC unit underwent training conducted by the 3rd Regional Community Defense Group, Philippine Army (3RCDG).
“Training is the key word. Several Saturdays nag-prepare ang mga bata sa mga scenario an posibleng ibibigay sa kanila, may kanya kanya silang tasking. Para silang isang machine an may iba't ibang parts, pero kapag umandar na, they work in harmony,” said Ar. Alvin C. Abata, Director of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Office, in an interview.
Abata also gave emphasis on the value of military service as a meaningful contribution to the nation.
“Kakaunti man kami sa bilang compared sa ibang program, we are worth the investment that the University gave to us. The NSTP-ROTC is hoping that in the near future, many students will choose the program,” he added.
The RAATI is an annual evaluation conducted by the Philippine Army Reserve Command to assess the overall readiness and performance of ROTC cadets across various criteria. The inspection at DHVSU was led by LTC Valentino P. Azarcon (INF) PA, acting chairperson of RAATI, on behalf of Col. George M. Bergonia INF (MNSA) PA.
Along with Abata, Dr. Dolores T. Quiambao, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, was also present during the RAATI.
