To strengthen cultural heritage preservation and support sustainable tourism in Pampanga through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), specifically focusing on the municipal church of Bacolor, the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), through its College of Computing Studies (CCS) and Extension Services Office (ESO), formalized a partnership with the San Guillermo Parish of Bacolor for Project BALIKID during a ceremony held on May 13, 2025.
The project, titled “BALIKID: The San Guillermo Church Augmented Reality (AR),” was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and aims to integrate augmented reality (AR) technology into a tour app that enhances the understanding of historical sites, offering both locals and tourists an immersive experience of the church’s rich history.
This initiative supports the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, ensuring that the rich history of sites like the San Guillermo Parish Church remains accessible to future generations.
Representing DHVSU at the MOA signing were Engr. Rhoderick M. Favorito, ESO Director; CC faculty members including Lionel G. De Lazo, project head; Jordan L. Lansan, lead coordinator; Julieta M. Umali, one of the assistant lead coordinators; and ESO Center Managers Engr. Inla Diana C. Salonga, Ma. Ferdelyn M. Coutinho, and Eloisa G. Mendoza.
Meanwhile, representing the San Guillermo Parish Church were Rev. Fr. Ariel D. Limjoco, Parish Priest, and Emil Gutierrez, Parish Secretary.
