Aiming to bridge community needs by enhancing mental health awareness and accessibility, the Don Honorio Ventura State University—through its Extension Services Office (ESO), Counseling and Testing Center (CTC), and College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP)—signed a partnership agreement with Santiago Apostol Parish (SAP) of Betis, Guagua, Pampanga, at Bale Ugnayan ning Betis on October 31, 2024.
The Community-based Mental Health Program prioritizes education and training to reduce stigma around mental health issues and provide counseling services through the expertise of DHVSU mental health professionals, specifically designed for local parish community residents.
Both DHVSU and SAP share a vision of fostering a supportive network that encourages individuals to engage in open conversations and promotes a more inclusive environment. The signing ceremony was attended by Rev. Fr. Joselito D. Henson, Parish Priest of SAP, along with Rev. Fr. Red H. Jaldo, Parochial Vicar; Mr. Arnulfo 'Mok' Cayanan, Parish Pastoral Council Coordinator; Ms. Celinia Gosioco, Parish Finance Council Coordinator; and volunteers from the Santiago Apostol Center for Accompaniment.
DHVSU was represented by the ESO, led by its Director, Engr. Rhoderick Favorito; the Office of Admissions, Counseling, and Testing Center, led by its Director, Mr. Richard N. Briones; and CSSP, through its Dean, Dr. Nelly N. Pilao.
