The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office III (DSWD - FO III), through its Policy Development and Planning Section, conducted an orientation on the Central Luzon Research and Evaluation Agenda (CLREA) 2025–2028 to the 250 third-year Bachelor of Science in Social Work students of Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U) held at the University Auditorium on September 16, 2025.
In cooperation with the Research Management Office (RMO) and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), the orientation aimed to provide students and faculty with a clear understanding of the research and evaluation agenda aligned with Central Luzon’s social welfare and development priorities.
Guided by the theme “Pananaliksik para sa Pag-Unlad: A Research Campaign for Advancing Social Welfare through State Universities and Colleges Partnerships,” the activity emphasized that research outputs are not only academic requirements but also serve as valuable inputs to government programs and policies.
“Ito ay hindi basta-bastang proseso. Umabot ito ng almost one year—six months in the making— para lang mabuo ito, at sa tulong din po ng mga experts from Pampanga State University,” Jessa O. Marzan, Project Development Officer II and Head of the Research and Development Unit of DSWD- FO III, explained.
Marzan provided an overview of the CLREA, including its benefits and the list of research and evaluation topics that can guide the students in selecting relevant thesis problems.
“When we do research, we have to consider existing policies, existing research agenda that might be contributing to the success of your research,” Dr. Ranie B. Canlas, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension, stated in his welcome remarks.
He also highlighted the importance of aligning research with existing policies and frameworks, and encouraged students to engage in activities where their research ideas could be shared and presented.
The event concluded with an open forum where students raised questions on how to align their future thesis proposals with the CLREA.
Also present during the orientation were Dr. Nelly Pilao, Dean of the CSSP; Dr. Robin Dimla, Director of the RMO; as well as faculty members from the Bachelor of Science in Social Work program and RMO center managers.
