Aiming to provide students with opportunities to gain work experience while supporting their educational needs, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) conducted an orientation and contract signing for the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries of Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U) at the Dr. Ernesto T. Nicdao Sports Center on September 11, 2025.
The event, spearheaded by the Office of Career Services (OCS), aims to provide temporary employment for poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers to help ensure that they can pursue their education.
“The student beneficiaries of the program may use their work experience as an advantage when they graduate, making them more attractive to potential employers,” said Cristal Rio Manuel, Vocational Placement Coordinator, in an interview.
Meanwhile, the students received a message from PESO Manager of the Municipality of Bacolor, Voltaire J. San Pedro, who underscored the importance of their performance and encouraged them to uphold honesty and accountability as SPES beneficiaries.
“Sana ay maging mabuting ehemplo kayo, dahil kapag naging mabuting ehemplo kayo, magiging mabuting Pilipino kayo with honesty, integrity, and accountability,” San Pedro expressed.
In an interview, Jemumuelle Rose Louise G. Bisda, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration student and one of this year’s SPES beneficiaries, shared how the program will contribute to her personal and academic growth.
“As a college student na graduating na madami pong benefits yung SPES para sakin. Dahil p’wede akong maging ready for future work and sa finances ko as a mother na rin po,” Bisda stated.
