In preparation for the upcoming ISO 9001:2015 recertification audit, Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U) successfully concluded its week-long series of webinar training sessions with a two-day seminar-workshop on risk management held at the University Hostel on November 4–5, 2025.
Spearheaded by the Quality Management Systems Office (QMSO) under the leadership of its director, Dr. Emmanuel B. Parreño, the training gathered ISO coordinators from various offices to develop a unified understanding of risk-based management and integrate risk assessment into their respective departments.
“We want you to be able to record, monitor, review, and report the actions. Our goal is to address risks and opportunities so we can continue operating normally in our respective offices and deliver quality services,” said Dr. Parreño.
The seminar-workshop aimed to deepen participants' understanding of risk-based thinking, risk management frameworks, and the evaluation of potential risks that could hinder the attainment of institutional goals.
Mary Glory Caunin, an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) consultant, served as the resource speaker for the training, emphasizing the importance of proactive planning and preparedness through risk-based thinking.
“Kahit hindi pa nangyayari ‘yung risk, we anticipate it — proactive approach. At merong contingency plan para kapag mangyari siya, we already know what to do,” said Caunin.
The ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Recertification Audit is scheduled for November 26-28, 2025.
