“Reputability requires meeting standards of rigorous peer-review and selection criteria.”
These words were emphasized by Dr. Robin B. Dimla, Director of the Research Management Office (RMO), in his remarks for the statement of purpose of the RMO Mentoring Workshop held at the University Hostel on September 4-5, 2024.
With the goal of preparing completed research outputs for publication in Scopus-indexed journals, the two-day workshop was themed "Advancing Research Publication Skills: A Mentorship on Scopus-Indexed International Journals."
The event aimed to strengthen researchers with the skills and knowledge necessary for publishing in international journals and making their work accessible to a global audience.
Dr. Manuel B. Garcia of the Far Eastern University – Institute of Technology served as the keynote speaker and mentor. Through his guidance, participants learned about the specifics of international publication processes, engaged in question-and-answer sessions, and participated in a breakout activity designed to improve their skills in peer reviewing and academic presentations.
“Hopefully after this event, ma-realize niyo rin na masarap din mag-research...” said Dr. Garcia in his introduction. “I hope na after this lecture, you’ll be encouraged to do research more,” he added.
