Program Description
Civil Engineering is a profession that applies the basic principles of science in conjunction with mathematical and computational tools to solve problems associated with developing and sustaining civilized life on our planet. Civil Engineering works are generally one-of-a-kind projects; they are often grand in scale; and they usually require cooperation among professionals of many different disciplines. The completion of a civil engineering project involves the solution of technical problems in which information from numerous sources and myriad non-technical factors play a significant role. Some of the most common examples of civil engineering works include bridges, buildings, dams, airports and hangars, ports and harbors, highways and railways, tunnels, river and shore improvements, lighthouses, drydocks, irrigations, flood protection, drainage, water supply, and towers. Enumeration of any work in this section shall not be construed as excluding any other work requiring civil engineering knowledge and application.
Civil Engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines both in terms of the range of problems that fall within its purview and in the range of knowledge required to solve those problems.

GOALS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
To produce civil engineers who are tasked to undertake these endeavors:
- Potent ingredient and force in nation building specially designed for infrastructure work reflecting diversity of skills and talents;
- Instruments of physical/community development which is a key factor of sustainability and progress.
- Group of professionals who will not only showcase the mastery of this field but set of individuals who will demonstrate authentic principles of honesty and integrity of work making themselves true inspiration for others to exert the utmost in themselves and harnessing their potentials.
OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
- To endow the students with adept knowledge of the concepts and principles of civil engineering and practices to make themselves at pace with the current Civil Engineering trends and standards.
- To enhance the skills and talents of the students by their acquired theoretical know-how with actual applications making the learning process more holistic in approach.
- To reinforce the student’s overall personality not only through basic and applied knowledge but also to instill good moral and spiritual values and proper work ethics.
